New School Year!

We are so excited to already been three days into the 2010-2011 school year! We have had a great start to the school year already. Please mark your calendar for First Grade Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 31st at 6pm. This meeting is intended for parents, so if possible, please make other arrangements for your child(ren). Thanks for helping make the start to school so smooth. We look forward to a great year!

Looking for something fun to do this summer?

I (Miss Murphy) will be teaching a class at Exploration Academy called A to Zoo. Its a fun class full of arts and crafts, cooking, reading, writing, singing, dancing, and playing games. We'll learn all about different zoo animals and will have a blast doing it. There are lots of classes offered at Exploration Academy. Check ou the link below to find out more information:

Egg Drop Movie

We have been learning ways to take care of the Earth. The 3 R's are ways that we can help. We can reduce, reuse, and recycle old things. On Friday, April 23rd we reused old trash and made "egg protectors". We then dropped our "egg protectors" from high on the playground. Some of the eggs survived and some did not. Watch the movie below to see our fun, Friday afternoon.

Arboretum Field Trip Movie

We had a great time on a wonderful spring day at the Dallas Arboretum. Thank you to all the parents who went with us and shared their photos with us so we could make this movie.

Simple Machines Movies

Each class created a movie on Simple Machies. Check each teacher's website for the movie! Below is the movie created by Miss Murphy's students.

Open House

Open House is tomorrow MORNING from 7:30 - 8:45am. Please come with your child to the classroom first where they will pick up their "Tour Guide" paper and will lead you on a tour of the classroom and the school. They are very excited to show off all of their hard work! We look forward to having lots of visitors.

We hope everyone had a great Snow Day on Friday. We had a great time playing in the snow on Thursday. More pictures and movies to come of the First Graders (and teachers) loving the snow!!

Baby Sims is Here!!

On Tuesday, January 5th, Mrs. Sims had her daughter. Harper Anamarie Sims was born at 9:57am weighing in at 10 pounds, 1 ounce. She is 20.5 inches long. Both mom and baby are doing great! Welcome to the Country Place Family Harper!

Early Release Days and Days Off

For the next two weeks we have a very different schedule:
Wednesday, January 13th - 12:45pm dismissal
Thursday, January 14th - 12:45pm dismissal
Friday, January 15th - 12:45pm dismissal
Monday, January 18th - No School (MLK)
Tuesday, January 19th - No School for Kids (Teacher Work Day)
